Enjoying life with our S/y Xpequod yacht

An Albin Express racing boat. Today our day cruiser in the archipelago of Turku. A Day sailer that accelerates fast after every tack. It reaches easily 5 to 6 knots and in moderate breeze 7 knots. A fun, small boat to sail in sheltered waters but you can trust Peter Norlins design even on an open sea. This boat carries the main sail in quite strong winds, you seldom need to reef the main, you just let it to the lee and sheet it there. Some tension maybe needed on the back stay to let the wind pass. You also have three head sails to choose. Inside we have only the main bulkhead and two sofas with a dining table. We have added a module pentry in front of the main bulkhead with a single burner stow and a sink to wash the coffee cups. The whole boat is stripped inside to be as light as possible. It still pleases the sailors eye with nice colours and textiles

The rigg we adjusted after the first sail this summer

I let the head sail shroud 5 cm more upwards to get the sail balance better. For the next season I have to cut also the main shrouds 5 cm to get them more tight. Now they are in the maximum point and can not be tightened any more. Dont worry my friend I like to sail with my leewad shrouds fladdering a bit, not too much. Too much tension is not so good for the hull either.

Some more attachments to the boat

This season we got a new chartplotter, that can be connected to NMEA 2000, so we can better use our sailing instruments. Seatalk autohelm is also powered to help the helmsman. The service we made last year for the outboard engine brought us a more reliable power source. The small lithium batteries are working well and we have enough power now.

Music is present for the sailors this year

We could test the Spinnaker Yacht varnish and Cascofen two component glue, which are both more than 25 years old. The most perfect finish in glueing and varnishing wood
